In a cruel twist of fate - the same twist we face every year - our clocks moved forward over the weekend, and even though there was nothing to get up for, I found room in my heart to be annoyed about it. That is not the tone of Deirdre Kinahan's play, "Spinning".
"I wish to God I could turn back the clock. Stop it. Stop it all from spinning..."
This is not a funny play - I would describe it as dark. While other plays I have mini-reviewed made me cry, they also made me laugh. This is not a laughing play. It is gorgeous, Kinahan builds tension and mystery so well, it's best read in one sitting and then pondered for the next hour just staring at the wall. It's another one with terrible people, but there are also characters to route for.
Flashbacks throughout support the theme of turning back time, as we slowly learn a sordid past, which I will not spoil!
